Roni and Randy Kaluza
| You know, as a muralist, people ask you all of the time to paint finishes for them. It’s just part of the job. And lately I’ve been painting more and more. Just getting kinda good at it, I guess. For example, here is a project for our good friends, Roni and Randy Kaluza. They happen to raise Irish Wolfhounds. Yep, they’re huge. And all four dogs live in the house. Or should I say, their portion of the house. With their PBGV buddy. (An acronym for Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen – too cute. Look it up.) Oh, and did I mention the two Amazon Grey parrots? Calvin and Hobbs? Too many stories to capture here. Maybe later. Anyway, I was hired to put a tough finish in the area where they spend most of their time, or as I like to call it, the Hall of Dogs. I came up with a really nice blended true Venetian Plaster for the HOD. Included an image of “coursing” wolfhounds on one wall. Well, the finishes spread. We ended up with a Red VP in the entry and Dining room (both with a fabulous Solar Gold Iridescent Wax finish) and a Cobalt Blue and White VP in the kitchen. The rest of the downstairs was finished with a multi-color glaze. Absolutely too much fun. I don’t think I’ve ever worked on a project where there had been so much hair to contend with – and I know for sure it wasn’t mine! |
